This tutorial will show you how to create a pricking pattern, to stitch words of your choice on to your hand stitched greeting card.
Type A Greeting from stitchingcards.com is a way to add a personalized greetings to your stitched greeting cards. The system uses a PDF file with an embedded stitching font. The recommended way to use Type A Greeting is to download the file to your computer and then open it in Adobe Reader.
For this demonstration we are using the free Type A Greeting font number three-ten. Stitching Cards also has other font styles available for purchase.
When you hit the download button, the PDF file will normally open in your web browser window. It can then be saved, using the download link in the top right-hand corner, or by using the keyboard shortcut Control S.
Navigate to your download folder and find the PDF file.
Right-click on the file and open it with Adobe Reader.
The Type A Greeting page, has a card size rectangle, with blue tinted text areas.
Place your curser in the top text area, and start typing.
The words should appear in the Stitching Cards font.
If you over fill the line, the text will shrink, to make it fit on the line.
If you want to use the full size of the font, keep the words shorter than the line width.
Move on to the next text area down, as required by your greeting length.
When your greeting is complete, you can print the page, and use it as your pricking pattern. You can also save the PDF file under a new name, to keep it for future use.
